Phyllis J. Wilson

Phyllis J. Wilson, 94, of Davenport, died May 15, 2025, at Davenport Lutheran Home. Private family services will be held in Port Orange, FL. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.

A local visitation will be held from 2-4 on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport.

Phyllis Jean Kleinschrodt was born November 27, 1930, in Valley Junction, IA, the daughter of William and Mildred (Haight) Kleinschrodt. She was united in marriage to James (Jim) Wilson on January 26, 1958. He preceded her in death December 29, 2017.

She enjoyed shopping, especially shoe shopping, traveling, attending her children’s games and band events, and needle point. Phyllis was known for her good sense of humor and warm, quiet demeanor. She was an excellent cook known for her chicken enchiladas and decadent German Chocolate Cake. Phyllis loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Phyllis was employed as an Admin at the Rock Island Arsenal for over 20 years prior to moving to Orlando, FL in 1983 where she continued to work for the government at the Orlando Naval Training Systems Center until her retirement in 1988. She returned to Davenport in 2023 to be closer to her children

Those left to honor her memory are her children: Karyn Schultz, Kent (Teresa) Wilson, and Kurt Wilson; grandchildren: Rachael (Jon) Deaton, Gerald Bender (fiancée Kelly Andersen), Seth Schultz, Ben Wilson, Tim Wilson, and Michaela Wilson; great-grandchild: Jaron Deaton, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, parents, an infant daughter, Kristi, and siblings: Harold Kleinschrodt, Keith (Phyllis) Kleinschrodt and Evelyn (Mac) Maxwell.
