He was born June 19, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Vincent and Mildred (Putnam) Walters. He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in 1956. Paul married Linda Morris on October 14, 1967 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Galesburg, Illinois. They have shared over 55 years of memories.
Paul was a safety inspector for Caterpillar until they closed and then went to work for the Scott County Sheriff’s Department as a transportation officer and bailiff. He was also a long time member of the Scott County Sheriff’s Posse and Reserves. Paul retired in the early 2000’s.
In addition to being a member of Holy Family Parish, he belonged to the Midwest Corvette Club, Kiwanis Club of Davenport, and the Iowa National Guard.
Paul had a unique sense of humor with a side of orneriness. He enjoyed collecting cars and had a love of animals, having dogs around the house most of his adult life. He adored his grandchildren as they could get him to do just about anything.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, daughters, Mary (Jed Ganzer) Walters, all of Davenport and Annie (Jerry) Porter, Moline; grandchildren: Max, Claire and Mirabelle Porter, and Morgan Ganzer; brothers, Ralph (Darla) Walters, Bettendorf, and Dave (Linda) Walters, Eldridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Walters family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for all their care.
