Patrick H. Crossen, age 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Patrick lived a full and charitable life, defined by a strong work ethic that was surpassed only by his devotion to his wife, children, siblings, and extended family. Above all else, he was a family man.

Christmas Day, 1945 he and his twin were born to Ralph J. and Lurlne R. (Neilssen) Crossen at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. They both graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School, Assumption High School, and St. Ambrose University.

He married his high school sweetheart, Nan M. Foley, in 1968. That same year, Patrick began his career as an accountant at the Rock Island Arsenal and was drafted into the United States Army, where he served until 1975. Over his Arsenal career spanning three decades, he rose to Chief of the Army Working Capital Fund Division, retiring in 1998. Following his retirement from federal service, Patrick founded Crossen Consulting LLC, serving as subject matter expert for several companies until his retirement at age 72.

Patrick cherished his grandchildren, his weekly boat rides with the breakfast crew, and he loved accounting--continuing to do family and friends’ taxes until the end. He was an avid fan of genealogy, gardening, and his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Nan; his children, Rachel E. Crossen and Melissa M. (D. Stuart) Ware; his grandchildren, Connor P., Morgan M., and Raegan E. Ware; his twin brother, James M. Crossen; his extended family, Scott A. Vincent, Patrick W. (Rev. Mari Thorkelson) Foley, William A. Foley, Elizabeth M. (Eric) Swanson, Diane S. Foley, and Ramona J. Crossen; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He now rests in peace, reunited with those who went before him, including his parents; his brother, Michael J. Crossen; and his sister, Ruth E. Vincent. He was also preceded in death by Margaret A. Crossen; Krista Cuppy, Kathleen E., and Philip A. McNaught; and Thomas R. Foley.

He is deeply missed and forever remembered.

Per his wishes Patrick will have a private family graveside service. His celebration of life to be announced.
