Patricia Louise Phillips was born on March 18, 1943 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the youngest daughter of ten children born to Joseph and Janet (Penney) Phillips. Pat worked as a real estate agent before getting a job as a Realty Tech at the Corps of Engineers. She then when to work as an accounting technician at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service at the Rock Island Arsenal.

Pat was united in marriage to Glen Hotchkiss on November 27, 1982 in Bettendorf.

Pat had a lifelong spirit of adventure, and nothing brought her more joy than exploring the world. She especially loved cruising, a passion that carried her to five continents and thirty-five countries—even as far as North Korea. Whether she was touring grand mansions and antebellum plantations or insisting on a drive through the “ritzy” part of town, she delighted in seeing how others lived. Pat enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River and scuba diving while in deeper waters, always finding beauty in new perspectives. She nurtured that same appreciation in her love of flowers and gardening, and in the special moments she shared with her grandchildren—making cookies, decorating Easter eggs, and filling family gatherings and reunions with laughter and warmth. Ever curious and optimistic, she even enjoyed dabbling in the stock market.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Glen, Davenport; daughters, Kim (Fernando) Ocampo, and Julie (Todd) Gillitzer, all of Bettendorf; grandchildren: Benjamin, Ocampo, Paige Gillitzer, Marisela Ocampo, Morgan Gillitzer, James “J.J.” Gillitzer, Alexa Ocampo, and Thomas Gillitzer; siblings: Pauline Prew, Minnesota and Paul Phillips, New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Mary Helen Clark, Dorothy Hassenmiller, Robert Phillips, Lois Ales, John “Jackie” Phillips, Janet Wahl, and James Phillips, as well as her former husband, Lonny Wilson. May they rest in peace.
