Patricia was born in Moline, on April 16, 1930, to Rene and Romanie (Schatteman) De Bo. She graduated from United Township High School in 1948. Patricia worked as a secretary at John Deere for seven years. She met the love of her life, Richard Hollembaek, at a Catholic Youth Organization dance and their first date was a St. Ambrose football game. The couple married on May 16, 1953. They adopted two children, Thomas in 1959 and Jean in 1961. The family moved to Arcadia, Calif., in 1968. She lived in there for more than 40 years while raising her family. Patricia was an excellent homemaker and entertainer. Her hobbies were going on walks, gardening and painting. She was the most caring, generous mother and grandmother a person could be blessed to have. She and Richard traveled the country and world together. After the passing of Richard, she remarried to her lifelong friend, Jim Grothusen, and they shared eight wonderful years together. She was a charter member of the President Club at St. Ambrose and attended every SAU-related event she could. Other organizations she was a part of were St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church (Glendora, Calif.), Los Ballerinos Dance Club (Glendora), St. Vincent De Paul Committee (Glendora), Prime Time Club (Glendora), AARP, Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club (Davenport), a valuable member of the Ridgecrest community and loving grandma to everyone she met. Her smile and warm heart will be remembered by all that where fortunate enough to know her. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
