Patricia Ann “Pat” Berger, 73, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis East, with her beloved husband by her side.

Born on September 17, 1952, in Illinois, Pat was the daughter of Robert John Schallow and Jordis Torrey Kirkpatrick. She grew up alongside three sisters, forming deep family bonds that lasted a lifetime. On August 10, 1971, she married the love of her life, Edward Berger. The couple was just days away from celebrating 55 years of dedicated marriage.

Pat was a heartwarming and exceptionally selfless person who would do anything for anybody. She lived her life with an open heart, and her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support were deeply appreciated by the people she helped throughout her life. Above all, Pat was completely dedicated to her husband, Edward, taking wonderful care of him and their home.

After graduating from high school, Pat attended classes at Palmer College to study accounting. She turned her talent for numbers into a successful career, working as a skilled bookkeeper for KWQC-TV and Iowa American Water. Most recently, she enjoyed her time working as a part-time bookkeeper at the local glass shop run by her dear friend, Wendy Garcia.

Outside of work, Pat was a passionate and talented creator. She loved sewing, with a special fondness for intricate embroidery and quilting. She also shared a deep love for animals, deeply cherishing the many dogs she and Edward raised and loved together over the decades.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Berger; her sisters, Marcella Economides and Marlene Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jordis, and her sister, Juanita Castens.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
