Pat Tandy

Pat Tandy of Davenport died unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at her home on December 15, 2023. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Burial will take place at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Old English Sheepdog Club of America, Gilda’s Club of the Quad Cities, or the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pat was born in Davenport on March 8, 1951 to Harold W. and Kathleen E. Tandy. She graduated from Assumption High School in 1969 and St. Ambrose College in 1973. She began her career teaching for the Marshalltown Community School District, where she relished in enriching her 3rd grade students' lives. After her father’s death in 1981, she returned to Davenport to be closer to family. Here she began her decades-long career at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 2013.

Pat enjoyed spending time with her family and friends to whom she was fiercely loyal. She was a spectacular aunt to her favorite niece and favorite nephew, though she would never pick her absolute favorite. She was a great listener, who never met a stranger. Pat was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, baking, cross-stitch, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Jan Tandy; niece Kathleen Tandy (Brendan Hanks); nephew Michael (Jill) Tandy; great nieces Norah and Evelyn Tandy; many cousins, close friends, and her canine companion Carly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael and sister Diana.
