Oscar Lee Hubert, Sr.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Oscar Hubert Sr, 72, of Davenport, will be held at 1pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from noon until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Hubert passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 at MercyOne Genesis, Davenport.

Oscar Lee Hubert was born November 13, 1952 in Tunica, MS, to Robert and Lossie (Duckworth) Hubert Sr. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Ross and later to Barbara (Merritt) Jackson on November 13, 1995 in Davenport. Barbara preceded him death on March 24, 2012.

Prior to his retirement, Oscar had worked for Brach’s Candy in Davenport for over 25 years.

Oscar was a gentle giant who loved good food, music, working at Brach’s, and spending time with his large family, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his son Oscar (Lee) Hubert Jr; daughter Nikeysha Hubert; grandchildren Akeyla Roache, Jalon Thomas Jr; siblings Jesse Hubert, Willie Hubert, Dessie Stratton, all of Davenport, and Robert “June” Hubert Jr of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Sonny Hubbard, Clarence Hubert, sisters Bertha Hicks, Robert Lee Hubbard, Eddie Mae Smith, Mildred Morgan, Gladys Hubert, Roxie Hubert, Dora Mae Brown, Pearl Mae Hubbert, and Lossie Mae Ivy. May they rest in peace.
