Oliver Lee Gales

Oliver Lee Gales, 90, of Davenport, passed away, Friday, August 15, 2025 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 29, 2025 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home.  His family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemtery.  Memorials may be made to the family. 

Oliver Lee Gales was born May 20, 1935, in Louisville, MS to Oliver and Evelina Gales. As a young boy, he grew up in Mississippi, prior to moving to Iowa in the 1960’s.

He found work at Black Hawk Foundry, where he later retired.

Oliver loved to fish and watch ball games, especially the San Francisco 49ers.

He was a very peaceful man and a good friend and neighbor; always willing to do anything that he could to assist others.

Those left to cherish his memories include his son, Leon, daughters, Trina Gales-Smith, Ida Patty, and Perline Patty; a sister Mae Love; brother David Gales; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a special nephew, L.J. Chambers; his long-time companion, Mary Campbell; and special friends Russell Stokes, Fred Hannah, Bruce Johnson and Tom Moore

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Evalina Gales, sisters, Lillie Mae, Liza. Frances, Carrie, Margaret, Daisey, and Lillie; brothers Sammy D, Howard, Jewlery; sons Mosel Lee, Clyde, and David and three grandsons, Harvey Andrew Patton, Antonio Hodges, and Alphonso Puckett.
