Nina M. Wiegand

Private family services for Nina M. Wiegand, 90, of Davenport, were held with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.  Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Nina died Friday, May 5, 2023 at home surrounded by her family.

Nina Mae Simpson was born on March 7, 1933, a daughter of Russell C. and Elva G. (Wear) Simpson in Clayton, Illinois and grew up in southern Illinois. She was united in marriage to John C. Wiegand on November 24, 1952 in St. Patrick, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on April 4, 1989.

Nina spent 13 years at Geifman’s and later enjoyed 20 years at Farm and Fleet.

Nina was a bingo fanatic, playing almost every weekend.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and hosting them on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.    She also enjoyed reading, especially James Patterson books and watching Jeopardy and Johnny Carson reruns.

Nina is survived by her daughter, Janann Ketelaar, Bettendorf, son, William Davis, Davenport; grandchildren: Ben (Karri) Ketelaar and Jenny Ketelaar all of Bettendorf; great-grandson, Ashton (Chloe) and great-great-grandchildren: Atlas and Violet; a sister, Zelma Hall, Quincy, Illinois, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kirchner, Missouri, Geneva Wiegand, Davenport, and Geri Wiegand, Fort Madison, and great-granddog, Muggsy.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
