Obituary

Miley Marie Christner, the cherished two-year-old daughter of Michelle Marie Lord and Homer Floyd Christner, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Born in Davenport on February 17, 2024, Miley was a true ray of sunshine from the very beginning. Affectionately known to those who loved her as "Mymy," "Smiley Miley," or "Miss Smiley," her bright grin and free spirit could light up any room. She possessed a big, open heart and a uniquely sweet way of showing affection—whenever she gave a hug, she would gently pat your back to show you extra love. She was born with a unique sixth toe that her family absolutely adored, a special little detail that made her even more unforgettable.

Miley approached the world with curiosity, a dash of mischief, and a lot of passion. She had plenty of typical toddler antics, often getting into things she wasn't supposed to, and her wild tantrums earned her another well-deserved nickname: "Firecracker." She loved being barefoot, playing outside, and going to the park. Whether she was deeply lost in her love for Miss Rachel, strumming her favorite toy guitar, or carefully stacking and lining up whatever she was playing with—from her toys to little coffee creamer cups—Miley found joy in the simplest things. She also never turned down her favorite treats, bananas and blueberries.

Miley loved her family deeply and was utterly adored by them in return. As the precious baby of the family, she shared a deep bond with each of her siblings, and held a very special place in her heart for her Mimi and Papa, loving nothing more than going to Mimi and Papa’s house. Though her time on earth was far too brief, the pure love she gave and received so deeply will echo in the hearts of her family forever.

Those left to honor her memory include her loving parents, Homer and Michelle; her siblings, Andrew, Olivia, Josie, Makenzie, Glenda, Sunny, Hank, and Legend; her grandparents, Michael and Jolene Whittemore, Thomas Christner, and Sharon Benefiel; a special aunt, Kathy Schneckloth; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was welcomed into heaven by her great-grandparents, Grace and Clarence Kinney, Lewis and Gloria Whittemore, and Glenda and Homer Christner.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 12:00 PM noon at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park.
