Mike Ryan

Michael Hugh Ryan, 68, passed away June 20 of 2025 at home surrounded by the loves of his life; his wife Laurie, his daughter Katie and her husband Clayton.

Michael was born January 20 of 1957; son of Jack and Dorothy Ryan. He married Laurie Shellabarger on September 27 of 1980. Michael had a long and fruitful career in medical sales which he not only loved dearly but also made him friends all around the US who he loved immensely. This amazing career ended with retirement from Shared IT which was his favorite job he’s ever had. He loved to camp, boat, ride his Harley, and loved to spend his free time with family and friends. He loved the Mississippi River, living on its shores for 30 years. He was an advocate for its history and volunteered to teach others the wonders we have right here in Davenport. He loved his friends and family fiercely. He loved to have a good time.

Left to mourn this wonderful soul are his wife of nearly 45 years Laurie, his daughter, Katie, and her beloved Husband Clayton Kennedy. His brother, John (Debbie) of Bettendorf, his sister Cece of Georgia, sister-in-law Teri (Duane) Deboef of Parkview, Patti Shellabarger of Florida, and many amazing nieces, nephews, and irreplaceable friends who were like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack & Dorothy; his sister, Charlene Raney, brothers-in-law Kenny Shellabarger, Bruce Meyer, Ken Cousino, and Dan Raney as well as sister-in-law Kathleen Ryan; mother-in-law Linda Shellabarger and his best friend and father-in-law Marvin Shellabarger. Nephew Brock Meyer, nephew Shannon Ryan, and niece Molly Ryan.

A huge celebration of his wonderful life was held at his favorite place, their home, and there are too many family and friends to name and thank individually for all that has been done for Mike, Laurie, and Katie.

Memorials can be donated individually to your favorite charity of choice in honor of Mike.
