Michele Stouffer

Michele S. Stouffer, age 67, of Davenport, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at her home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the services.

     Michele was born on May 9, 1956, in Davenport to Charles and Ruth (Starr) Bokenkroger. She worked with her mother at the former Clayton House before purchasing Chet’s Tap, operating for 14 years. Michele never met a stranger and welcomed everyone. It was common that the kids from Augustana would come in and she fondly referred to them as her “Augie Kids.” After her time at Chet’s, Michele managed a Dollar General for over 20 years retiring in 2021.

Michele was united in marriage to the love of her life, Steve Stouffer on November 13, 1999 in Davenport. Michele enjoyed and lived for her grandchildren and their activities.

   Survivors include her husband, Steve; daughter, Danielle (Erik Schroeder) Weiland; grandchildren, Johnny Weiland, and Brooklynn Stuckel; sister, Jolyne (Chuck) Coles; sister-in-laws, Connie Dekeuninck and Diana Frields; brother-in-law, Brian (Mary Olson) Stouffer; beloved dog, Loki; and dear friend, Judy Buck.

     In addition to her parents, Michele was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and mother-in-law.

     The family would like to thank Jana Foran from Angels Care Health, who she became very close to. Also, thanks to Compassus nurses Kristina and Rachele. Finally a special thanks to Dr. El Masri and his staff at the University of Iowa for their care.
