Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Michael “Mickey” Graham, 89, of Davenport, will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-6 pm on Thursday, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a Rosary offered at 6pm. There will be additional visitation one hour before Mass on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Café on Vine or Habitat for Humanity (Restore), where he had volunteered.
Mr. Graham passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Michael Joseph Graham was born June 20, 1935, in Kewanee, IL, a son of Michael and Helen (Stewart) Graham. He graduated from Kewanee High School class of 1953 and St. Ambrose College in 1957 with a degree in business administration and economics. While at St. Ambrose he met Angela Rapagnani and they were united in marriage on September 3, 1960, in St. Johnsbury, VT. She preceded him in death on November 10, 1977.
He served in the Army National Guard from 1957 – 1963.
Mickey was a salesman and account manager for several companies over the years including Sherwin Williams, Iowa Paint, Glidden, VanHuffel Tube Steel Company, Rucker Products, before retiring in 2001 from Mannesmann Rexroth.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fixing stuff around his home and those of his children, and scuba diving in his earlier years. He and his wife once met Mother Teresa.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus and founding member of what would later become Knights of Columbus Joseph M. Kelly Council #15254, and usher during Masses.
Survivors include his children Kevin (Susan) Graham of Nashville, Laurie (Rick) Ratliff of Kearney, MO, Mike Graham of Ft. Meyers, FL, David (Julie) Graham of Bettendorf, Robert (Dayna) Graham of Columbia, MO, Douglas (Jody) Graham of Highland, UT; twenty grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; siblings Jane (Jim) Hughes of Davenport; sister-in-law Judy Graham of Kewanee; and special friend Sharon York of Davenport..
In addition to his wife Angela, he was preceded in death by his brother Patrick and sister Sally (Ray) Van Wassenhove.
The family would like to thank and acknowledge UnityPoint Hospital and Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for their compassion and care given to Mickey.
