Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mervin Roy Iossi, 94, of Davenport will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1122 West Central Park, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Friday, May 9th from 4 to 6 pm at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be additional visitation from 9:00 until service time. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or School or the Honor Flight.

After a brief illness, Mervin passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at UnityPoint -Trinity Bettendorf, with family by his side.

Merv was born August 13, 1930 in Davenport, the son of William and Mary Iossi. He attended Grant Elementary and graduated from Davenport High School in 1949. Throughout high school he worked for Iowana Farms Dairy. Mervin was drafted to the U.S. Army in 1951 and served in Korea for 19 months in the 8th Army - Medical Clearing Company - Front Lines. He was thrilled to have the opportunity to go on an Honor Flight.

He married the love of his life Greta M. Grueber on May 21, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Greta preceded him in death on July 22, 2015 following 61 years of marriage and memories together.

Merv enjoyed traveling with Greta and their many fall trips as “Leaf Peekers” to the New England states and RVing to the Smokies as well as visiting the memorials and the capital of Washington, D.C, and Alaska. One of his most cherished memories was taking the grandchildren and their families to the yearly Circus Parade in Milwaukee for many years. Merv also enjoyed taking many, many fishing trips to Minnesota.

Mervin started his contracting career in 1954 with his brother, Frank, and in 1975 expanded his business with his two sons, known today as Merv Iossi & Sons Inc. In 1986, he laid down his hammer and accepted the opportunity to manage the Professional Arts & Brenton Bank buildings. retiring in 1993.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Duane and Nancy Iossi, Gail and Mark DeBarr, all of Davenport, and Dan and Susan Iossi, Prior Lake, Minnesota; grandchildren: Casey (Megan) Iossi, Annie (Nick) Canby, Corey (Alex) Iossi, Ryan (Katie) DeBarr, Laura (Tom) Dunbar, Erin (John) Schad, Andrea (Brian) Nolt, twelve great-grandchildren: and a brother, Roger Iossi, Sedona, Arizona.

In addition to his wife, Greta, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle DeBarr, his parents, and seven siblings.
