Maureen Ann Kelley, 71, entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2026, in Bettendorf, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, March 29th, 2026 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home (614 N Main St) in Davenport, Iowa. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 11 AM at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church (511 S Monroe St) in Monroe, Michigan. Additional visitation will take place at 10 AM in the Church. The burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Monroe, Michigan following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National Parks Conservation Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Maureen was born on December 3, 1954, in Monroe, Michigan. She was the daughter of James and Loretta (Barry) Kelley. Maureen was a graduate of Saint John Catholic Grade School, and a 1973 graduate of Saint Mary Academy in Monroe. Maureen excelled athletically and academically and was voted Student Council President.
After secondary school she earned a degree in medical technology from the University of Michigan in 1977. She worked at Beyer Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan for two years prior to devoting her time to raising four boys born in less than four-and-a-half years.
With a move to Iowa City, Iowa in 1988, Maureen continued to dedicate her energy to her family. However, she never lost her love for the State of Michigan or the University of Michigan and instilled in her sons a strong love of their sports teams.
Maureen served on the parish council at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church and was a parent volunteer at Regina Catholic School. She not only supported her children in their athletic and academic endeavors, but she enjoyed cross-country skiing, playing basketball, running, and gardening (a love passed on by her father) with them.
She also fostered her boys’ love of nature, and chaperoned Boy Scout trips to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. She explored many National Parks across the country, and cherished spending time on the shores of Lake Huron with her family. Two of her favorite activities were hosting Sunday family dinners in her home’s dining room and playing Bridge. One such gathering was featured on the front page of the local newspaper.
Maureen did not allow a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis to define her. She embraced a new career as a legal assistant in the Johnson County, Iowa, County Attorney’s Office, where she worked for more than 20 years before retiring in 2020. She continued her involvement in civic affairs, in investment and book clubs, and as a volunteer math tutor.
She moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, in 2021 where she was the first resident of The Summit’s Mesa Household. She was active in the Resident’s Council and continued her loves of reading, bridge, and spending time with family.
Maureen is survived by her four sons, Timothy (Jessica) Kresowik; Daniel (Emily) Kresowik; Paul (Kate) Kresowik; and, Mark (Nicole) Kresowik; along with ten beloved grandchildren: Jack, Alex, Caroline, Mira, Nile, Isaac, Margot, Nathaniel, Benjamin, and Juliana. She is survived by her treasured siblings, James (Jennifer) Kelley; Loretta (Terrence) Bronson; Patricia (Dwight) Bowman; David (Julie) Kelley; Michael (Elise) Kelley, Anne (Daniel) Brahier, and Teresa (Gerald) March, and a myriad of nieces and nephews; special cousin, Mary Sue Mercer; and long-time friends, Linda Merlino and Jim and Denise Clinton.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Kelley, a supportive aunt, Annetta Kelley, and her godmother, Helen Mae Dickman.
