Matt died Sunday, December 7, 2025.

Matthew Reed Stine was born on December 30, 1992 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Michael Glenn Stine and Carol Ann (Reed) Stine. He graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing.

Matt spent over seven years drumming in DCI (Drum Corps International) throughout his adolescence and into adulthood. He was the youngest ever snare drummer for the Colt Cadets and eventually made the snare line for the Colts. After he completed his DCI years, he became a passionate educator, working with high school students and college drum lines across the Midwest. He loved working with those musicians and seeing them excel and fall in love with music, the same way he did.

Matt was enamored with business, like his father. He started out working as an Assistant Manager for Sherman Williams, in Peoria, IL. After a few years, he was ready for a new chapter, and applied to work at Best Buy, as a General Manager and moved to Duluth, MN. From there he knew he wanted to challenge himself and move more into the decision-making positions within BestBuy so he became a demand planner and then team lead in Minneapolis, MN. He moved back to Davenport to be closer to family, when his father became ill. He continued teaching music and coaching drum line at St. Ambrose University and students at Rockridge High School, his alma mater.

Matt was someone who was curious about everything and wanted to learn as much as he could. He loved being challenged and having discussions with people. Matt was a man of faith. He believed and prayed and wanted to see good in the world.

Survivors include his mother, Carol, Davenport and sister Michele Stine, Chicago.

Matt was preceded in death by his father. May they rest in peace.
