Matthew J. Lanaghan

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Matthew J. Lanaghan, 65, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. The Mass will be live-streamed by visiting  St Paul the Apostle FacebookVisitation will be from 4-6pm on Wednesday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. There will be additional visitation on Thursday at the church from 9:30am until time of services. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.

Matthew Lanaghan, born on November 24, 1959, died of natural causes on October 17, 2025 and left this vale of tears.

Matt studied the Bible regularly and he had a kindness and courtesy for his friends and family. Matt was very strong and independent. He was an excellent chess player and had a ranking with the chess federation.

Matt was a graduate from St. Ambrose with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy. Matt was an avid bird lover. He enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. He was also a talented writer, filling journals with poetry and reflections.

He will be missed by his friends and family.

Matt is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jean and his father David, and his two brothers Paul and Bob.

Matt is survived by his brothers Kevin (Zeljka), Pat, Mark, his twin brother Brian and his sister Mary.
