It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom and grandma Anny, who left this world on November 25, 2025. She was the heart of our family, the one who held everything together with strength and endless devotion.
Anny was born August 30, 1941 at St. Mary’s Headford Road, Galway, Ireland. In her younger years she also lived in Dublin and London. Anny worked for a time on Cunard Cruise Lines and was in Dunoon, Scotland for a friend’s wedding where she met and eventually married Richard in 1974. They moved several times during his Navy submarine service eventually retiring to Morris, Illinois. In 2011 they moved to Davenport, Iowa to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Anny was a woman of remarkable resilience. No matter the challenge, she faced it with courage, teaching us by example what it means to be strong. She had a gift for caring for everyone around her—whether it was keeping the household running smoothly, offering advice based on her life’s experiences, or making sure no detail was ever overlooked. She truly took care of everything. Anny always said her job was to make sure we were ok…and went to school. She exceeded her expectations.
Her kitchen was her sanctuary, and cooking was her love language. From warm breakfasts to holiday feasts, she nourished us not only with food but with joy, laughter, and togetherness. Every dish carried her signature touch: a blend of tradition, creativity, and love that made family gatherings unforgettable. No one who came to mom’s house left hungry. Mom found joy in cooking for others and sharing the dishes of Ireland. Those cooking secrets go with her as no recipes were used.
Beyond her strength and her talents, Anny will be remembered for her unwavering love. She was our protector, our cheerleader, and our safe place. Her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught us, the traditions she passed down, and the love she instilled in our hearts. Her grandchildren, Preston and Maddie, were her light and joy these last 14 years.
Mom leaves behind Richard, her husband of 51 years, daughter, Rebecca, and her husband Dave, son, Richie and his wife Katie, and of course Preston and Maddie, who will carry her spirit forward in the way we live, love, and take care of one another. Though we ache with her absence, we know she’s still with us—in every meal we make, every challenge we face with courage, and every moment we choose love over fear.
Anny was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ellen and her brother Noel. She is also survived by her brother Thomas (Julia) and sister Evelyn (Fintan) in addition to several nieces, nephews, friends, extended family and those she always carried in her heart.
Rest easy, Mom. You’ve taken care of us all your life. Now it’s our turn to carry your love with us, always.
Memorials can be made to Clarissa Cook Hospice House or Quad City Animal Welfare Center.
