Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Mary T. Johnson, 98, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 9am until time of services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church and the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Mrs. Johnson passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Mary Teresa Schloemer was born June 12, 1925, in Davenport, a daughter of Florent J. and Ellen Johanna (O’Neill) Schloemer. She was united in marriage to Eugene E. “Gene” Johnson on August 21, 1948, in Davenport and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2000.
Prior to her retirement she had worked as a secretary at Genesis West in Davenport. She remained active in retirement as a Genesis Hospice Volunteer, golfing into her 80’s, and making the occasional trip to the casinos.
Those left to honor her memory include her children Cathy Johnson of Davenport, Gloria Wrage of Bettendorf, Teresa (Harland) Sprout of Davenport, Robert (Lori) Johnson of Eldridge, Joanie (Steve) Smith of East Moline, Rev, Brian Johnson CSSR of Tucson, AZ, Paul Johnson of Davenport, John(Diana) Johnson of Erie, IL; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and daughters-in-law Jerilyn Johnson of Davenport and Debbie Lofgren of East Moline.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Virginia Johnson, sons Gary and Ron Johnson, and sisters Fran Haase and Inez Ambre. May they rest in peace.
