Mary Freund

Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Freund, 93, a life-long resident of Davenport, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass Thursday at the church. Mrs. Freund passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary was born on January 8, 1925 in Davenport, a daughter of William and Hilda (Abrahamson) Wafer. She was united in marriage to John W. Freund on August 31, 1948 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. He preceded her in passing on November 3, 2006following 58 years of marriage together.

Mary was fun loving and loved by many. She enjoyed shopping, golfing, and lunches with her group of friends, tending to her flower gardens, vacationing and watching Hawkeye and Cubs games with her husband, John, and spending time with family. She had been a member of Holy Family Parish since 1954.

Mary is survived by a sister-in-law, Helen Wafer, Davenport, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Shirley Freund, Clinton, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Anne Freund, Elizabeth Wafer and Katherine Wafer, and brothers, James, Thomas, John, and Richard Wafer. May they rest in peace.
