Mary C. (Lingenfelter) Carley, 88, of Bettendorf, died peacefully Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at The Fountains, Bettendorf.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to St. John Vianney. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mary Carolyn Lingenfelter was born on October 24, 1937, in Ft. Madison, Iowa, a daughter of John A. and Caroline J. (Weidmann) Lingenfelter. She grew up in Denmark, Iowa and graduated high school in 1955.

Mary was united in marriage to Harlan D. Carley on August 20, 1955, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Burlington, Iowa. He preceded in death on July 29, 2024, after 69 years of marriage and memories together.

Mary’s life revolved around her faith and her family. When her children were school age, she worked at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was an active member of St. John Vianney for many years and participated with their knitting group.

She loved to square dance with Harlan along with the Wheel ‘n Steppers and Merry Rounders Round Dancing. Mary adored her family and enjoyed spending time with them as well as attending any event they were participating in, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s endeavors.

Those left to honor her memory are her children: Ray Carley, Cedar Rapids and Teresa (Kevin) Brown, Davenport; grandchildren: Adam (Kelly) Carley, Reinbeck, Iowa, Chuck (Jenn) Carley, West Branch, Iowa, Cole Brown, Haley Brown, and Kaitlyn Brown, all of Davenport; great-grandchildren: Kaylynn, Autumn, and Briana; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Harlan, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Wilbur and Harold Lingenfelter, Shirley Burke and Lila Hill.
