Mary Ann Lovejoy was born on January 12, 1952, in Pocahontas, Iowa, a daughter of Warren A. “Ward” and Donna M. (Strathman) Lovejoy. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1970 where she met Ronald L. Soenksen. They were united in marriage on December 4, 1971 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport. Mary Ann and Ron have shared over 54 years of marriage together.

Mary Ann worked at Home Hardware for many years followed by Tri-State Turf and Irrigation and retired from Q.C. Power Equipment in 2021.

Mary Ann loved to keep her yard immaculate, cutting grass whenever she could, even her neighbors! She also enjoyed camping and of course spending time with her granddaughters.

She was an active volunteer with the American Legion, where she especially enjoyed helping with bookkeeping and also created blankets and Christmas stockings for veterans. As a Gold Star Mother, she carried a deep sense of patriotism and took great pride in supporting veterans and the many loved ones in her life who served our country.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Ron, Davenport; children and their spouses: Sarah (Eric) Goodin and Matthew (Alyx) Soenksen, all of Blue Grass; grandchildren: Aria (Nick), Eleanor, Emmalynn, Abigail, and Audrienna; siblings: Rose Ann (Manny) Ramirez, Roger (Georgia) Lovejoy, Frank (Debbie) Lovejoy, Steve (Cindy) Lovejoy, and Tony (Sheila) Lovejoy as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her daughter, Pfc. Katie Soenksen, and her parents.
