Marilyn "Tubby" Jones

Marilyn Mae “Tubby” Jones, 64, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis East Campus, Davenport. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Marilyn was born on March 28, 1962, in Centerville, Iowa, to Norman and Marcella Jean (Gott) Lucas. She attended Central High School in Davenport. She was united in marriage to Michael Jones on April 7, 2000, in Davenport.

She had worked a handful of jobs. At one point, she held a CNA license, was a computer operator, and, most recently, worked at DAV Thrift. You could find her in warmer months tending to her flower, vegetable, and fruit gardens. She spent her free time shopping for anything and everything. She never knew what she would purchase, and that was a thrill for her. Above all else, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved staying active with them, taking them for bike rides and on hikes. She was a loving soul, one of a kind.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Mike; daughters, Sunshine Lucas, and Marcella (Darious) Lucas; stepchildren, Jesse and Jami; grandchildren, Dotieon Combs, Derone Combs, Keyron Combs, Alden Combs, Amora Saldivar, Myah Saldivar, Jasiah Allen, Bryce Mulcher, Kadence Mulcher, Rylan Mulcher, and Aria Jones; siblings, Minnie, Navis and George.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wendy.
