Margaret Mary Carpenter

Margaret M. Carpenter, 79, of Davenport, passed away, Sunday, October 18, 2026, at MercyOne-Genesis East Hospital, Davenport, surrounded by her children. A celebration of life will be held at later date. Honoring her wishes, cremation has been accorded.

Margaret Mary Carpenter was born on May 31, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of Frank and Edith (Goeltl) Szymanski. Margaret attended beauty school and for the last twenty years worked as an administrative assistant at Tyler & Associates.

She was an avid fan of football, rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. She always had a football game on. She loved Halloween, often watching scary movies. She enjoyed staying active, enjoying her arts and craft time, and testing her luck at the casino. Margaret never knew a stranger; she was outgoing and everyone who met her loved her. Some of her fondest memories were going to her son’s band shows and watching him and his friends perform.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ronda (Jamie) Medinger and Randy Carpenter, step grandchildren, Josh and Courtney, a grand dog, Zoey, a special niece, Tara Miller, numerous other nieces and nephews, a special friend Brittany Baily, her very beloved friends of over 50 years, Jim and Carol Brainerd, and a very dear and loved friend, Leanne Tyler.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Barbara Smith and Virginia Szymanski.
