Funeral services celebrating the life of Louise Blumer, 78, of Davenport, will be held at 11 am on Monday January 12, 2026, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to her sister Genevieve Alatorre for a fund to be established.
Ms. Blumer passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her home.
Louise Antonia Arguello was born September 21, 1947, to Raphael Juarez-Arguello and Angela (Herrera) Arguello. She was united in marriage to Glen Blumer Sr in 1963.
Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a machine operator for the former Bendix in Davenport, as a waitress for Rudy’s West for 25 years, and finally for her brother at Babe’s Pest Control.
Louise enjoyed dancing to the oldies, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons John (Tonya Akright) Blumer, Glen (Kristy Piepers) Blumer Jr, Steven Blumer; sixteen grandchildren including Steven Jr who Louise helped raise; nineteen great grandchildren; siblings Henry “Tony” (Diana) Arguello, Genevieve Alatorre, Raphael “Babe” Arguello, Steve (Marilyn) Arguello; companion Glen Blumer Sr; and special friends and caregivers Leigh Ann Macias-Reitz and Wendy Essex.
She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Lois Blumer, special nephew Rodney Alatorre who was like a son to her, and sisters in law Maggie Arguello and Carol Allen.
