Lois Hartog

Lois Hartog, 79, died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Wheatland Manor, Wheatland, Iowa. Keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lois Raap was born on February 10, 1947, in Wheatland, Iowa, a daughter of Herbert and Laverna (Kleppe) Rapp. She married Dean Oberhaus and from this union they had two children: Deanna and John. She later was united in marriage to Thomas W. “Tom” Hartog on July 21, 1989. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2019, after 30 years of marriage.

Lois had worked at the UAW Union Hall and later as a federal clerk for the Federal Court System.

She loved her dogs and enjoyed tending her garden of flowers and vegetables she grew.

Those left to honor her memory are her children: Deanna (Stewart) Carroll, Dallas, Texas and John Oberhaus, Calamus; grandchildren, Benjamin Carroll and Abigail Carroll; and sisters, Ruth Raap, Davenport, and Emma Mason, Wheatland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, and parents.
