Lionel Sanchez

Lionel Sanchez, 59, of Davenport, IA passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026 at his home.

Born on January 28, 1967 in Texas, son of Hilberto and Yolanda (Bereles) Sanchez. Growing up Lionel wanted to be a policeman, but later found his passion for the military during his high school years and joined the Reserves.

As a proud Army veteran, Lionel served his country for twenty years, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. He was known for his passion of guns, fine cigars, and an occasional fine whiskey.

Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Hilberto and Yolanda; siblings Norma Glasco, Melinda (Todd) Volling, Rosalinda (Dennis) Swiercz and Gilbert Sanchez; nephews and nieces Kevin and Bradley Glasco, Tyler and Kayla Miller (Volling), Isabelle, Jenna, Hailey, and Ethan Sanchez and Sydney and Shelby Swiercz. He will truly be missed by many of his friends and family, but will always be cherished.

Graveside services will be held on October 21, 2026 at 11 am at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island with military honors. The funeral procession will depart promptly at 10:30am from Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home located at 614 N Main St, Davenport, IA 52803.
