It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Marie Wessel, 62, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Linda passed away peacefully in her home on July 22, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born on December 16, 1961, in Rockford, IL and lived most of her life in Davenport, IA, after earning a degree in pharmacy from the University of Iowa. She resided in Beverly Hills, CA at the time of her passing. It was in Davenport that Linda gave birth to her daughter, Molly, and spent almost four decades practicing as a pharmacist. Her compassion and generosity made her beloved by her colleagues and patients alike.
Linda was never happier than when she was with her family. She achieved her goal of coming to California to be with her grandkids, enjoying her final weeks playing board games and spending time with Ophelia, Greyson and her namesake, Palmer Marie. She lived for her grandkids, making sure she was present at every milestone. She readily shared her passion for volunteering with her family and taught her grandkids the importance of giving of your time in service of others.
Linda will be remembered by her numerous friends and family for her thoughtfulness and her strength. Always thinking of others, Linda sent cards for every birthday, anniversary, and holiday and called daily to check in on her friends and relatives. Her impact on everyone around her was felt deeply during her battle with cancer, when her house was full of the many generous friends and family who surrounded her with love and support.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Clara Grall. She is survived by her daughter Molly Andrews, her son-in-law Robby Andrews, her grandchildren Ophelia, Greyson and Palmer; siblings Lori Mack and Larry (Ellen) Grall; her nieces and nephews Eric (Samantha) Mack, Evan (Alicia) Mack, Sarah Grall and Lucas Grall; and her great nieces and nephew.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 8 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 on Friday, August 9 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 N. Main Street, Davenport with a luncheon following the service. Burial will be held in Forest Lawn, Glendale, CA on August 1.
