Linda L. Bruce

Linda Bruce, 70, of Davenport, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Ridgecrest, Davenport with her family by her side. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 25th at the Lulac Club – 4224 Ricker Hill Rd.

Linda Louise Collings was born March 25, 1956, in Lewiston, ME, to Charles and Dorothy (Mabie) Collings, Sr. The family moved to Moline, IL, shortly thereafter. She graduated from Moline HS. She was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Bruce on September 30, 1978, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport.

Linda was the kind of mom who seemed to always be on the go. While raising her daughters and making their home the center of their lives, she also worked a variety of part-time jobs. She was, without a doubt, the “cool mom.” She was usually the one behind the wheel, driving her daughters and their friends to sporting events, activities, practices, games and whatever else was on the schedule. If her girls needed to be somewhere, chances were she was the one getting them there. And she didn’t just sit on the sidelines, one season, she even stepped in and became a soccer coach. Even though she only had two daughters, many of their friends called her mom.

She was a very proud grandmother to Kaitlyn “Nigel” Bruce and later to her step-granddaughter, Avery Leutzinger. She also knew how to have a good time. She enjoyed going to bingo, trying her luck at the casino and sitting down for a good game of cards.

More than anything, she will be remembered for the life she built around her family. She was a hardworking homemaker, a dependable mom, a willing chauffeur, an unexpected soccer coach and the “cool mom” her daughters could always count on. The years may have brought plenty of busy schedules and countless miles driven, but she wouldn’t have traded those moments for anything.

Her family will carry those memories with them, the games, the practices, the car rides, the laughter, the card games and all the little moments that made up a life well lived. She gave her daughters not only her time, but herself, and that is a gift they will carry with them always.

Survivors include her husband, Bob; daughters Heather Bruce, Christine (Alex) Leutzinger; grandchildren Kaitlyn “Nigel” Bruce and Avery Leutzinger; brother Patric (Jennifer) Nichols; sister Joyce Wangler; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her infant son Benjamin Joseph Bruce, father Charles Collings, mother Dorothy Nichols, and brothers Charles “Chuck” Jr, Harvey, and John Collings, and William “Billy” Green, an infant sister as well as her in-laws Joesph “Joe” and Margaret “Marge” Bruce.
