Lane Burghoffer, 77, of Davenport, passed away, Monday, June 29, 2026 at MercyOne Medical Center, Davenport.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 pm, Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 10:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the family.
Lane was born on March 23, 1949 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the middle child of five, to Luther and Louise (Beelman) Burghoffer. He was united in marriage to Mary McGuire on May 22, 1971.
Lane was a veteran of the United States Army. Lane was a member of the Elks in Kewanee and Rock Island where he was very involved holding many district offices including Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the Davenport VFW and the Knights of Columbus in Fort Madison. Lane enjoyed sports and enjoyed cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Chicago Bears. For the past 15 years he could be found with his wife at dinner with the Tuesday night group. In his younger years he found joy in bowling, golfing and fishing. Above all he loved his family, especially his great granddaughter Kinsley.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Mary; son Josh (Laurie) Burghoffer; grandchildren Zachary (Megan) Burghoffer, Elias Burghoffer, Matthew Burghoffer and Cody Burghoffer; great granddaughter Kinsley; siblings Celene (Roger) Coppage, Eric (Anne) Burghoffer and Aaron Burghoffer; sisters-in-law Charlotte (Brad) Rashid and Wendy McGuire and Elizabeth Schmoeger; special friends David and Rae Marie Jurmu; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rachael Burghoffer, sister Anita Burghoffer, father-in-law and mother-in-law Cyril and Doreen McGuire; sister-in-law Debbie Burghoffer and brother-in-law David McGuire.
