Karen P. Staub,78, Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Davenport, passed away peacefully on October 21st, 2022 in Bradenton. Funeral services to celebrate Karen's life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport with burial in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Karen was born on May 5th, 1944, in Davenport to Harry and Katherine (Moore) Haiston. After graduating from Marycrest College, she followed her big city dreams and moved to Chicago, where she grew a love for the Cubs. She married Howard G. Staub on February 4th,1967, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2001.
Karen worked many years at the Davenport Pediatric Group. She was a wonderful gardener and artist. She always loved to complete her daily crossword puzzles, sitting at the beach, reading, cross stitch, and enjoyed traveling the world after she retired. Karen loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time creating traditions and memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Karen will be remembered for her kind heart, wonderful meals, special recipes, wonderful sense of humor and her quick wit. She was always involved in her grandchildren’s activities and interests.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Gene Dobek, Davenport; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Jenny Staub, Riverdale; grandchildren: Nathaniel Staub, Andrew (Claire) Dobek, Megan Staub, Ryan (Kayla Latham) Dobek, and Brenna (Gage) Mueting; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Dave Gould, Bettendorf; a sister, Marilyn Geerts, Davenport; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Dobek, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Wrigley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and sister-in-law, Richard “Red” and Noreen Haiston, and brother-in-law Jim Geerts. May they rest in peace.
