Joseph Schwertman

Joseph A. “Joe” Schwertman, 64, of Bettendorf, formerly of Le Sueur, MN, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his home.  Per his wish the rite of cremation will be accorded and a memorial visitation will be held from 4-6pm Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue, Davenport

Joseph Allen Schwertman was born June 16, 1956 in Davenport, IA, a son of Jack August and Phyllis Jane (Murphy) Schwertman, Sr.  He was united in marriage to Penny Davis.

Joe was an over the road truck driver for Best Brands.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and pranking his friends and family.  He was an avid and long-suffering fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include siblings Patti Johnson, Moline, Mary (Donnie) Metz, Smithfield, PA, Mike (Joyce) Schwertman, Steve Schwertman, all of Davenport, and twin brother Jack Schwertman, Jr, Bettendorf; children Corey Casey, Melissa Schaefer, both of Mesa, AZ, Karlee Hollets, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Hayden Northrup, Mankato, MN; one grandson; and his chocolate lab and best friend “Gus”.

His parents preceded him in death.
