Joseph Patrick Devlin was born October 23, 1950, in Davenport, the 4th born son of John “Jack” and Dorothy (Krukow) Devlin. He graduated from Assumption High School, class of 1970.
A proud roofer by trade, Joe spent his life working hard, helping others, and finding joy in the simple things. He was a loyal, and long-suffering fan of the Chicago Cubs, Da Bears! and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Outside of work, Joe was happiest when surrounded by friends, whether on the softball field, with a fishing pole in hand, or camping under the stars. He was well known for his quick wit and endless supply of jokes, a gift that could lighten any room. Generous and dependable, he was the kind of neighbor everyone could count on, always ready to lend a hand without being asked.
In earlier years, Joe was also known for roasting hogs, turning it into a side gig that brought people together over good food and laughter.
He will be remembered not only for his hard work and humor, but for the countless friendships he built and the kindness he shared so freely.
Survivors include his siblings Daniel (Deb) Devlin of Bella Vista, AR, Dennis (Olivia) Devlin, Marc (Therese) Devlin, Deanna (Mark) McFadden, all of Davenport, Jerry Devlin of Moline, Matt Devlin, Jackie (Jeff) Shaw, all of Davenport, Jodi (Joe) Ineichen of Blue Grass; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom, and great nephew Justin Duex.
