John Riepe

John I. Riepe, 71, of Davenport, died May 5, 2025, at his home.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at a later date. Memorials may be made to Rescued, Silvis, Illinois (www.shoprescued.com)

John Iver Riepe was born July 15, 1953, in Davenport, a son of Dale Riepe and Evelyn (Smull) Hedgepeth. John was united in marriage to Suzanne Hueser on October 2, 1976, in Davenport.

John served as a CB for the US Navy. He then worked for almost 30 years as a route salesman for Dr. Pepper/7 UP. He was extremely outdoorsy. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and golfing. He looked forward to deer hunting with his favorite guys in Shimek Forest each year. John was a member of the Eagles Club. He was an avid Chicago fan, rooting for the Bears and the Cubs. John loved his family above all else, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 48 years, Suzanne, his children, Tara (Ken) Newbury, and Kyle (Brianna) Riepe, grandchildren; Jacob Newbury, Tyler Newbury, Shaelyn Riepe (Tyler Jakubowski), Kyle Riepe Jr, Teagan Riepe, Luca Riepe, Rocco Riepe, and Ellie Riepe, mother, Evelyn Hedgepeth, siblings; Phyllis (Bill) Wolters, Scott (Nancy) Riepe, Colleen Holdorf, and Kathie Hedgepeth.

John was preceded in death by his father, Dale Riepe, brother, Kevin Hedgepeth, and stepfather, Bill Hedgepeth.
