John L. "Jack" Klein III

John L. “Jack” Klein III, of Bettendorf, died Friday, October 10, 2025 at MercyOne-Genesis Medical Center, Davenport. He passed away peacefully at the age of 84 as his body grew tired after a long and full life.

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Jack will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 E. Rusholme Street, Davenport. The Mass will be livestreamed by visiting St. Paul the Apostle Facebook Page Private family burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Muscatine. Visitation will be held from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with a rosary/prayer service offered at 4:30 p.m. that all are welcome to attend. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the gathering space at St. Paul the Apostle. Keeping with Jack’s wishes, cremation rites have taken place. Memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle, Assumption High School, or St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

John L. Klein III was born on July 3, 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa, the eldest son of Beatrice (Kaiser) and Dr. John L. Klein, Jr. He was educated in the Muscatine Catholic Schools, graduating high school in 1959. He went on to graduate from the former St. Ambrose College in 1963. Following graduation, he went to work for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals for two years, before enrolling and graduating from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in 1969.

Jack married his one true love, Georgia Kaye Moe, on June 26, 1965 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo, North Dakota. They have been blessed with sixty years of marriage together.

Mr. Klein was a registered pharmacist in the Quad Cities for fifty-two years. He was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association and the former Rock Island County Pharmacists’ Association. Mr. Klein was the owner of the former Schneider’s Drug Store in Rock Island from 1974 until 1992. He continued his work around the Quad Cities, retiring from Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Moline.

Jack was a fifty-three year member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where he was a lector for many years and was a past school board member at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School. Jack also was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Loras Council 532.

Jack loved to play golf and drive his Corvette, which he kept in mint condition. He was a great supporter of the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. He also enjoyed attending sporting and musical events of his children and later grandchildren.

He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wonderful wife of 60 years, Georgia, Bettendorf; his children: John (Elisa) Klein, Davenport, Paul (Patsy) Klein, St. Louis, Missouri, Katherine “Katie” Klein Nash, Bettendorf, and Matthew (Angie) Klein, Waukee, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Kelsey Klein, Davenport, John T. “Bud” (Dani) Klein, Laveen, Arizona, Lauren, Christian, and Braden Klein, St. Louis, Missouri; William and Charlotte Klein, Waukee, Iowa, and Alexander and Ava Nash, Bettendorf; sister, Andrea Clifford, Denver, Colorado; brother, Thomas (Patricia) Klein, Tampa, Florida; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy (Roger) Deters, Plymouth, Minnesota, Connie (Jay) Gardner, Estero, Florida, and Richard Moe, Punta Gorda, Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gregory Klein, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Katherine and Lester Moe, and a brother-in-law, David Moe.
