Joe Lee Harrington

Funeral services celebrating the life of Joe L. Harrington, 62, of Davenport, will be held at Noon on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Third Missionary Baptist Church, 222 W. 14th St, Davenport.  Burial will follow in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.  The family will receive friends from 11am until time of services Thursday at the church.  Memorials may be made to Greater Faith Baptist Church.

Mr. Harrington passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Joe Lee Harrington was born March 18, 1960, in Louisville, MS, a son of Carey and Ethel (Coleman) Harrington.  He was united in marriage to Beverly J. Ivy on June 2, 2002.  She preceded him in death on April 18, 2017.

He had worked for the Rock Island Arsenal prior to his retirement.

Family was extremely important to him, and he loved taking care of his children and grandchildren.  He was the life of the party, enjoyed dancing, making people happy and listening to music, especially soul and rhythm and blues.  He took pride in his appearance and enjoyed ironing his clothes to get the creases just right.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter Tasha Hodges and her children Trevon Hodges and Atrayvion Hall, Davenport; stepchildren Latonia Clayton, Peoria, Nakia Ivy, Davenport, Renisha Thompson, Ft. Worth, TX, Canares Ivy, Davenport; brother Russell (Mary) Harrington, Davenport; and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, stepbrothers and stepsisters, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his wife Beverly, he was welcomed into heaven by his parents, grandson DeLandres Thompson Sr, and siblings Ernestine Richardson, Frances Jean Coleman, Shelby Richardson, Judie Ann Harrington, Joyce Ann Taylor, Charles McGraw, Willie McGraw, and Ethel Ruth Spears.
