Joanne Margaret (Kostielney) Brown, 72, of Davenport died Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Genesis East. Family and friends are invited to a visitation Wednesday, November 30, from 4-7pm , at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 1, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home.  There will be additional visitation Thursday from 9 until 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be left at www.hmdfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to the family.

Born April 19, 1950, in Long Beach, CA, to Raymond and RoseAnne (Whitney) Kostielney, Jo attended Davenport West High School and married Michael Dennis Brown October 2, 1971, in Davenport.

Jo’s arms were always open to anyone who needed help. She fostered children and teens for over 20 years taking in multiple kids at one time. Her door was always open, even for the neighborhood kids.  She loved animals.  She took in many and could never turn away a stray.  Jo was very creative and she enjoyed using her creativity to craft gifts for her family and friends.

Those left to honor Jo’s memory include her son Justin (Heather) and grandkids Gavin and Gianna; sister-in-law Suu Kostielney; niece Michelle (Jonathon) Kline and great-niece Wilhelmina; niece Tiffany Kaye-Otero; and Diane (Jim Eyerly); and sister-in-law Barbara Kostielney. 

Also Mike’s siblings Chris and Carol, Moline; Kathy (Ron) Dankert, and Dan; Tim (Patty); Jim (Patty); and sister-in-law Deb Brown. Jo also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years; son Jeremy; brothers Bruce, “Pohl” (Robert), Bill, Rich, Blaine, and Barney; sister Marion; her parents; nephews Donald and John Jr.; Mike’s brothers Bill, Tom, Terry, and Phillip; his sister Patricia; sisters-in-law Nancy, Jeannine, and Penny; and nephew Jason.
