Joan M. Schmits

Joan M. Schmits, 86, of Davenport, died Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Ridgecrest Village, Davenport.  Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral.

Joan was born on November 11, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois, a daughter of Walter J. and Louise H. (Rosswog) Schmits.  Joan worked at Simon Landauer for many years before working at Schlegel Drug and late in the district office of People’s Drug.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and enjoyed photography, genealogy and tending to her garden.

Survivors include her brother, Ronald Schmits, Summerville, South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Schmits and nieces and nephews: Lisa (Mike) O’Brien, Tom Schmits, Jane (Tony) Lunardi, Betsy (Joel) Walter, Amy (Mike) Gallo, Katherine (Dr. Mike) DeVan, and Andrew (Katherine) Schmits

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Schmits and a sister-in-law, Linda Riddell Schmits.  May they rest in peace.
