James Philip Enright was born on April 23, 1943, in Moline, Illinois, a son of Tom and Marian (Plunkett) Enright. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1966. Jim was united in marriage to Karen J. Haessig on August 25, 1995, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Jim owned and operated Accent Lawn and Leisure, a John Deere dealership in Mt. Joy, Iowa, for over 25 years before he sold the business. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Parish and a former member of Crow Valley Golf Club, where he loved to play golf.
Jim, aka “Papa” was known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor. He may have been quiet at times, but when he spoke, it was often with a perfectly timed comment or response that showed his playful side. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Gin Rummy with his several card clubs and Crazy Eights with his grandchildren. Jim and Karen spent many winters traveling including memorable trips to Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. Wherever their travels took them, Jim kept an eye out for local breweries, always searching for the perfect West Coast IPA.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Karen, Bettendorf; children: Andy (Carrie) Enright, Ankeny, Jamie Enright (Collette), Davenport, and Melissa (Matt) Rebro, Bettendorf; grandchildren: Jack, Reagan, Olivia, Madeline, Dominic, Kai, and Vaughn; siblings: Steve (Donna) Enright, Port Byron, Illinois and Pat (Tom) Sewart, Mequon, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rose (Ross) Garmoe, Kirkland, Washington; Joe (Priscilla) Haessig, West Liberty, Iowa, and Ruth (Gary) Spilger, Clinton, Iowa, and Dave Haessig, Davenport; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill Enright. May they rest in peace.
