Jessica Pena, 91, of Davenport, passed away, Monday, November 11, 2024 at UnityPoint Medical Center, Bettendorf.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, November 22, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jessica was born on December 24, 1932 in Sweetwater, Texas, daughter of Eladio and Leonore (Olvera) Pena.
Jessica was witty, humble, and down to earth. In her past time she enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, bird watching and flowers.
She watched her news programs and followed current events and politics regularly but also enjoyed her older television programs just as much. She enjoyed going to the casino and an occasional game of chance on scratch off lottery tickets.
Jessica was a phenomenal cook and always offered her family food as soon as they came through the door. Often saying, “Ya hungry, ya want an omlet?” and was famous for her tamales. Above all she loved her family and was very passionate about her grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her loving brother Francisco (Chuy) (Rose) Pena. Jessica’s children, Raul (Connie) Vasquez, Eduardo (Pam) Vasquez, Carlos Vasquez and Estebon Vasquez; daughter-in-law Susan Ruiz-Vasquez; grandchildren Tiffiany (Rashawnda) Hines, Heaven Vasquez, LaToya Pearson, Joie (Sean) Hoteling, Jenille (Allen) Vasquez-Christner, Danielle Vasquez, Maggie Vasquez, Juan Vasquez, Jose (Megan) Vasquez, Dylan (Jenni) Ruiz, Derek Ruiz, Austin Sountris, Kayla (Brad) Sindt, Monica Vasquez and Jessica Vasquez, Lydia (Donny) Allcock; and many great grandchildren as well as a host of wonderful nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Felix (Beetle) Vasquez, daughter Maria (Vivi) Kelly, Chastity and Madeline Vasquez and Angel Darkon Vasquez-Jones.
