Jerry Lee Green, Sr

Funeral services celebrating the life of Jerry Lee Green Sr, 60, of Davenport, will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport.  Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the church.  The rite of cremation will follow services.   Memorials may be made to the family.

 Mr. Green passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the University of Iowa.

 Jerry was born June 2, 1963, in Davenport, a son of Wilbur and Ruth (Acosta) Green.  He graduated from Davenport Central High School, class of 1981.  He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Nicholson in 1993 in Davenport.

 Prior to his retirement, Jerry had been a landscaper for Cribbs Landscaping for almost 20 years.

 He enjoyed fishing, wrestling, bowling, golfing, listening to Jazz, and the occasional Busch beer.  He was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.  He loved his family deeply and was his grandchildren’s biggest advocate, following them in all their endeavors.

 Those left to honor his memory include his wife Carol; children Justin Green of Davenport, Chelsea (Cardale) Green-Smith of Rock Island, Amanda (Mandy) Powers of Davenport, Lontrail Davis of Waterloo, D’Arcy Echols of Rock Island; grandchildren Mason Powers, Cardreyon Smith, Saniyah Harris, Jaylah Green, CarMajor Smith, CarLeah Smith, CarMeah Smith, JayCarstyn Smith, D’Marious Johnson, Mahogani Johnson, Kailyn Jordan, Karli Jordan; mother Ruth Green of Davenport; siblings Beverly Green, Dennis Green, Steven Green, James Green, twin brother Terry Green, Judith Neely, Cathy Green, Lisa Davis; best friends Willie Johnson and Terry Tate; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

 He was preceded in death by son Jerry “Jay” Green Jr, father Wilbur Green, and brother Donald Green.
