Gerald Patrick Britt was born on June 10, 1939, in Davenport, a son of John Gerald and Angela Bernice (Murphy) Britt. He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in 1958. Jerry married Nancy Rollston and from this union they had Becky, Debbie, and Cheri, he later married Jane (Williams) Denny and adopted her daughter, Sherry and they had Amy together. Jerry has spent the last 16 years with Darlene Langrehr. The last 16 years spent with Darlene were Jerry’s happiest, they loved to travel together, spending winters in Arizona and camping.

Jerry worked many years for Priester Construction, retiring in 1996. He operated the boom truck and was a crane operator.

Jerry was a long-time member of the Eagles Club and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, and he could often be found watching his favorite old westerns, especially those starring “The Duke”, John Wayne. Jerry loved to camp and fish, never letting the weather stand in the way of a day outdoors. Above all, he cherished his family. Even though his strength was failing, Jerry was determined to make the trip back to Iowa last month for a family reunion, making one final special memory surrounded by the people he loved most.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Darlene, Brownsburg, Indiana; daughters, Becky (Tim) Rohm, Davenport, Debbie Martin, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cheri (Dave) Cabana, Davenport, and Amy (Brian) Hilderbrand, Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren: Michael (Corina) Walter, Tony (Andrea) Huebbe, Keith (Taylor) Huebbe, Jessica (Anna Lynn) Martin, Anna Rae Martin, Haley Slagel, Seth Hilderbrand, Levi Hilderbrand; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; Darlene’s daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Nicholas Ash, and a brother-in-law, Joe O’Brien, Boston, Massachusetts.
