Jerrie Lynn Cheffer

Jerrie Lynn (Cocayne) Cheffer, age 81, of Bettendorf, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at her home. There will no services scheduled at this time. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

 Jerrie was born on December 8, 1942, in Dubuque to Robert and Virginia (Glovik) Allison. She was united in marriage to Dale Cocayne Sr. on July 21, 1962. He preceded her in death in 2005. She later married Craig Cheffer on January 24, 2011. 

 Early in life, Jerrie worked for the Southland Corporation, and then later with the Illinois Department of Children and Human Services. She later worked for the City of Davenport where she retired in 2018. Jerrie enjoyed camping, antique shopping, reading, and tending to her roses and African violets. She especially loved watching movies and loving her dog, Chase. Jerrie had been a breast cancer survivor for the past 27 years.

 Survivors include her husband, Craig; children, Michelle (Mark) Skelley, and Dale Cocayne Jr; grandsons, Tyler Cocayne and Nate Cocayne; a nephew, Shane (Lonnie) Cole.

 In addition to her parents, Jerrie was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale Cocayne Sr; sister, Karen Cole; nephews, Christopher Cole and Cory Cole.
