Jeannie Cleva Buchanan

Jeannie Cleva Buchanan, 81, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society of Davenport, with her loving husband and family by her side. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on November 11, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport, IA. The funeral service will be held at the same location on the following day, November 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo, IA. Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Fire Department or St. Croix.

Jeannie was born to Ernest and Thelma Caudle on June 7, 1944, in Norwood, Missouri. In 1965, she married the love of her life, Charles Buchanan. Their partnership blossomed over 60 remarkable years, a journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. For 40 years, she dedicated herself to in-home daycare, providing a nurturing and loving environment for numerous children.

Her legacy, however, extended far beyond the walls of her home, built not just on being a housewife but on the cherished moments she created with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her creative spirit also found an outlet in her hobbies; she enjoyed shopping, spoiling her grandkids, and was a devoted collector of anything blue willow.

Jeannie is survived by her loving husband, Charles; her children, Jeff (Norma) Buchanan, Trudy Ward, Doug (Kim) Buchanan, and Charmin (Ryan) Riedesel; her grandchildren Amanda, Glen, Matt, Brenton, Lacie, Anna, Stephanie, Samantha, Zach P, Zach R., Lexi, Logan, Drew, Landon, Danielle, Jack and Shelbi; and her 13 cherished great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Thelma; her brother, Ernest Caudle Jr.; and her daughter, Kim Buchanan.
