Jane Remley

Jane (Goethals) Remley, 94, of Eldridge, formerly of Davenport, passed away, Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Grand Haven Retirement Community.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30am, Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. The family will greet friends from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at church. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church or to St. Croix Hospice.

Jane was born October 15, 1931 on the family farm in Long Grove, Iowa to Camiel and Alice (DeWulf) Goethals. She attended country school and graduated from Davenport High School in 1950. She married William Remley in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1988. A son, Steven, passed away in 1998.

Jane retired from the work force in 2000. Later she was a volunteer at the Genesis West Campus and a member of CASI and the Putnam Museum Guild. Jane’s hobbies included golf and bowling while health permitted. She loved fixing puzzles, playing cards and reading. Her family was her true love of her life and she cherished the many good times they spent together.

Those left to honor her memory include her children Debra (Tom) Brownson, Denise (Dennis) Testroet, Donna Arbogast, Susan Sunleaf and Annette (Rick) Ripperger; grandchildren Christine, Melissa, Matthew, Brandon, Ryan, Katelyn, Megan, Michelle, Jake, Cat and Matt; and 17 great grandchildren.

Beside her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Virginia Vogt Connelly, Darlene Paper, Elsie Peters, Walter Goethals and George Goethals, great grandson Justin, brother-in-laws Gaylen Vogt and Orville Peters, and son-in-law David Sunleaf.

The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and Grand Haven for the wonderful care they gave to our mother.
