December 7, 1988 — February 25, 2018

Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial remembering the life of the beautiful “brown-eyed girl,” Jamie M. Gomez, 29, of Iowa City, IA, formerly of Carmel, IN, will be held at 10:30am Friday, March 2, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1506 Brown St, Bettendorf, IA. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-8pm Thursday at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St, downtown Davenport, IA with a Rosary offered at 7pm. There will be an additional visitation on Friday from 9:30am until time of service at the church.

Jamie passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Her Dad welcomed her into Heaven with open arms.

Jamie was born December 7, 1988, in Davenport, IA, the youngest daughter of Giberto “Gil” and Michele (Manion) Gomez. With a never ending thirst for knowledge Jamie earned her Master’s Degree in Forensic Anthropology from Western Michigan University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Medical Science from Grand Valley State University. Jamie was twice published and key presenter at the International Conference in Forensic Research in Calgary. Jamie will forever be the smartest person we know.

Jamie truly had the biggest heart and always put others first. The love she had for her family, friends and most of all her fiancé Matt will last forever. Jamie lived her life to the beat of Tom Petty with a passion for swimming, soccer, reading and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Jamie is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

To carry on Jamie’s love for animals the family request donations be made in her honor to the Johnson County Humane Society.

Those left to honor her memory include her mother Michele (Ray) Gaw, Pickerington, OH; sisters Heather Gomez-Brown, Overland Park, KS, and Christie Gomez, Kansas City, MO; fiancé Matt Funk, Iowa City; nieces Ella and Ava Brown and Rylee and Jovie Funk; and many loving extended family members.
