James Straetker

James E. Straetker, age 88, of Davenport, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2023  from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, with services following at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the National Cemetery, Rock Island. If attending, Jim would have wanted you to wear your favorite sports attire.

Jim was born on September 29, 1934 in Davenport to George and Lillian (Keckhove) Straetker Sr. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Navy from 1954-1956. On October 11, 1958 he was united in marriage to Janet Corcoran at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2017.

Jim worked for 24 years in the parts department at John Deere in East Moline. He enjoyed watching the Cubs, Hawkeyes, and Green Bay Packers. He especially enjoyed cookouts, and having a refreshment with his friends at the Circle Tap.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Steven and Dwanna Straetker, Susan and Mike Pulford, and Jeff and Karen Straetker, all of Davenport; grandchildren, Michelle (Tony) Zindel, Eric Straetker, AJ Kern, Melissa (Jeremy) Burkle, Claire Straetker, and Samantha Lipkowitz and Casey Musselman; great-grandchildren, Theodore, Carsen, Jonathan, Matthew, Connor, Myles, and Millie; and a brother George (Doris) Straetker.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his step-father, Randy.
