James Skinner

James S. Skinner, 54 of Buffalo, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, on Monday July 14, 2025 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service at the funeral home. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at 12:30pm in Buffalo. Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Roseville Township Cemetery in Roseville, Illinois at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Hospital or the American Heart Association.

James (Jim) was born August 14, 1970 in Fort Madison, IA to Jane Skinner McKenzie and James S. Zahn. Jim worked at Brammer Manufacturing and later at Nichols Aluminum/Aleris where he retired in 2017 after becoming disabled from a heart condition. He was united in marriage to Amy Fisher on October 1992 and divorced in 1998. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, metal scraping, woodworking when he was able and heavy metal music. He was a perfectionist and took pride in everything he did. Jim had many friends and always had a smile to share. He loved to trace the family tree thru Ancestry.com. Most of all Jim loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor Jim’s memory are his children Zachary (Meriah) Skinner, Morgan (Austin) Comandatore; a bonus daughter Makenley Miller-Skinner; grandchildren Nolan, Niales, Nash, Chaos Skinner and Synister Blundy, Leighton and Camren Comandatore; his sister Lori Menne (Kyle) Stahlschmidt; brothers Ryan (Shannon) McKenzie, Pete McKenzie of Ft. Madison; half brother and sisters Mitch Zahn, Katheryn Edwards, Kimberly Givens and Melissa Russell in Missouri, Tammy Pfeiferling, Quincy, IL, Tracy Zahn, Keokuk, IA; along with many uncles, nieces and nephews.

Jim is survived by his mother Jane and dad Floyd McKenzie.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Ralph and Mary Strickler, Roseville IL, Darrell and Gloria Skinner, Newport, OR, and father James S. Zahn.
