James Matthew Schebler, 58, a resident of Davenport, passed away, Friday, October 21, 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022 in Ballroom B at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 4215 Elmore Ave., Davenport.

Jim’s wishes were to be cremated and given to his two daughters. Jim wants them to travel and spread his ashes in some of his favorite places. Jim was very at peace with his life and his illness. He made sure to reassure his loved ones of that so they could also be at peace.

Jim loved traveling the world, going to concerts, eating good food, and having a nice glass of scotch with a cigar. He loved and cherished visiting all his loved ones over in Europe and was planning to move there to enjoy some of his remaining years. Jim had such a passion for singing and playing live music with his family and friends. His favorite game to play was to ask you to name the song and artist within five seconds of hearing it. He was an amazing cook and always enjoyed eating good food.

He loved cooking for other people, especially on football Sunday or any other game day. Jim was a big fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Boston Celtics, and St. Louis Cardinals. Jim was a veteran, he served as a medic in the army for 4 years. He was also a businessman who owned his own furniture company for many years.

Jim was also a family man. He had two daughters who he cherished more than anything and he spent years taking care of his mother before her passing. He made sure to do some traveling in the last year of his life and got to spend time in Costa Rica, which he loved. He was unable to move to Europe but his girls will be traveling together to make sure a piece of him will always be there.

Those left to carry on his memory are his daughters, Eryca Schebler and Adrienne Schebler; brother, Joe Schebler; sister, Jane Schebler; nephew, Garrett Schebler; and niece Amanda Petersen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Lourene Schebler.

His memory will also live on through his biological mother, Alicia Tygart; half-brother, Tony Ridgeway; and half-sister, Dawn Bechtel.
